Harvest of Lies: The Black Farmer Lawsuit Against the U.S. Department of Agriculture, by Louis T. March

This book is the first detailed analysis of Pigford v. Glickman (later Pigford v. Veneman), a lawsuit brought in the 1990s by a collective of black farmers against the U.S. Department of Agriculture for "discrimination." Although the USDA Census of Agriculture for 1997 found fewer than 18,500 black farmers in the U.S., more than 96,000 individuals ultimately attempted to collect payments through this lawsuit. Harvest of Lies details the massive fraud of this racial shakedown, which eventually cost the U.S. taxpayers up to one billion dollars and what may have been a dress rehearsal for a future demand for "reparations."
